Universit√† degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca (UNIMIB) was first established in 1991/92 as the second site of Universit√† degli Studi di Milano to carry out innovative research in strategic fields and to organize teaching activity in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary fields where the public involvement was still absent. It was 10 June 1998 when a Ministerial Decree established the "Second University of Milan" as an independent institution; with a subsequent decree of 12 March 1999 it got its present name.
UNIMIB has over 30,000 students and 70 bachelor and master courses belonging to 7 scientific areas. The research activities are developed in 14 Departments, 3 Excellence Centres and 46 university and inter-university research centres by about 900 professors and researchers and 1,500 young graduates.

Micropollutants removal by microalgae and nanoparticles through DISAT-AMB Department in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano and with SEAM for experimental activities both in the laboratory and on a pilot scale in the Bresso wastewater treatment plant
